Panasonic have added another model to their list of digital cameras called the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX580.  Featuring touch-screen technology the Lumix DMC-FX580 is packed with features and designed with high quality imagery in mind. For example the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX580 features a 12.1 megapixel sensor, 5 x optical zoom, a 25mm ultra wide angle LEICA DC Lens, and a 3 inch Touchscreen display.

“With Face Recognition, when a familiar face is recorded several times, the camera will prompt the user to register the face. Once registered, if the familiar face appears in the frame again, the camera will display the name specified for that person and prioritize focus and exposure so that the face is bright and sharply focused. During registration, the user can change the icon that indicates when the registered subject is in focus and the person’s age can also be added.  In playback, users can choose to display only photos that contain a specific registered face using Category Playback, so organizing and viewing photos is much easier”.

t10 electric car

Electric cars are getting more and more popular these days and it seems everyday there is a new prototype being released. However, rather than just post about each and everyone as they become available I will stick to posting about electric automobiles that are unique or feature technology not seen in previous ones.

Today’s Electric car is called the T10 and it appears from the picture to be one of the smallest and cutest electric cars available today (2,240mm x 1,180mm x 1,440mm). Of course one of the advantages with electric cars over conventional petrol or diesel cars is that they are greener, in other words more environmentally friendly.  Further more, the size of this T10 electric car and its top speed of 55km/h means its going to be more economical than other cars, after all it has one seat, one door, and very little space for anything else how could it possibly require much power? The vehicles total weight is 290kg and can be charged by either 100V or 200V power sources.

No prizes for who produced it, yeah it’s a Japanese firm called Takeoka Jidosha Kogei Ltd based in Toyama City, Japan.  Early indications are that it will be available at approximately $9500.00 with no release date set.

electric bandage

Medical research has shown that applying a small current in the form of electricity at the right levels can help wounds to heal faster. Cells in the body require energy to function correctly and to heal; this is normally produced by in the mitochondria of the cell. However, if the cell is injured it may be unable to produce the energy required to heal, and this is where the Electric Bandage helps. Power of 1.2 volts is provided by microscopic batteries attached to the flexible membrane of the adhesive bandage.

Features:
- Prevents microbial penetrations
- The electrical current provides painkilling properties
- Cheaper than conventional wound care (average $1000 per wound, compared with Prosit Electric Bandage $140)

The Arizona based company Vomaris Innovations are the architects behind the Prosit adhesive bandage and expects to win FDA approval for Over-The-Counter (OTC) supply later this year.

gps homing device

I am only posting this gadget because I feel I could have done with it today when I was out shopping.  Have you ever been out to a large shopping complex and completely forgotten where you parked you car, then having to spend the next 20 minutes walking round (with your shopping bags) looking like a complete idiot? Well I have. This GPS tracking device could have saved me so much time and hassle.

Utilizing an advanced GPS receiver chipset which provides the high degree of accuracy required for GPS systems, the GPS navigation device is able to guide you to a predetermined location. On the face of the device is an easy to read digital compass directing you along with providing the distance to end point in yards, miles, meters or kilometers.

How could I use this? Well if I had parked my car I could have plotted the location and the GPS homing device would have shown me the way; OR I could have looked at the memorized the car park number.
