Apple iPad 2 Features
March 6, 2011 by Michael

If you did not know then there is a new iPad coming out. Having had such huge success with the first iPad first released January 27 2010, Apple have produced an updated version which is even better than the first one. Now, I’m sorry if you own the original iPad but you are going to have to buy the iPad 2 if you want to be cool. Why anyone would choose a different tablet or better still, why any company would attempt to compete with the elegant and powerful iPad is beyond me. Just chech out some of the features and specs below.
Processor
One is good two is better! The iPad 2 is powered by Dual-core A5 chip. In a nutshell, it can perform twice the work that the original single core chip did. Performance wise, the difference will be noticed when running multiple programs, watching movies, and gaming.
Graphics
Graphics have been improved, (9 times better) they load graphics faster and therefore applications that bottlenecked on the first iPad due to slow graphics will perform better; think of gaming and watching videos.
Battery Life
The one thing every tablet and laptop owner would improve if they could on their computer would be to improve the battery life. Hows the iPad 2 do? Well it has not improved the life span, however it has not reduced it either. The iPad 2 despite being more powerful has exactly the same life span, i.e. 10 hours. It can do this due to the power-efficient A5 chip and Apple’s mobile operating system, iOS.
Camera
Did I say camera?, I meant cameras. The iPad 2 comes with two cameras, one positioned on the front the second on the rear. Once the point I hear you ask? Well its designed with FaceTime video calling, which essentially is exactly what it says. FaceTime, allows you to see the people you are talking to. The camera at the back is for switching between face shots or to display you location to your caller. Just to confirm it is of course displayed in HD.
iPad Smart Cover
The latest iPad 2 has been designed with a tailored cover also known as the iPad Smart Cover. The iPad fits perfectly into the Smart Cover; whilst magnetic technology holds them both together ensuring the screen is well protected. The iPad Smart Cover is still thin and durable, ensuring it does not add too much weight or size to the iPad 2. The iPad Smart Cover is available in 10 different colours, 5 polyurethane (gray, pink, blue, green and orange) and 5 leather (black, white, red, dark gray and pale white).
Display
The iPad 2 has a 9.7 inch high resolution LED-backlit display which is perfect size for viewing photos, movies, ebooks, and allowing sufficient size to view WebPages. The LED display technology displays clear and sharp pictures. The iPad 2 features IPS (in-plane switching), this means that anyone viewing the screen within a 178° angle will have a crystal clear view.
Software
The apple fans out there will be well aware of the iOS. Used in the iPhone and iPod touch, the iOS is the operating system of choice for the iPad 2, specifically iOS 4. Whats good about it? Well firstly, its secure and robust. How many people do you hear have their iPhone or iPad hacked? Secondly, it’s extremely functional allowing users to do pretty much anything they could do on a normal PC computer and more. The iOS supports apps of which there is 70,000 (increasing all the time).
