Roku 2 XS 1080p Streaming Player

The new Roku XS 1080p Streaming Player builds on the original flagship Roku player with full 1080p HD streaming, faster wi-fi, and even motion-based gaming for plenty of exciting entertainment right on your TV.

But first, what is a Roku player?

The Roku XS player is a small add-on box that you attach to your home network, either by wi-fi or a wired ethernet port. This gives the box access to the Internet. Then you attach the Roku player to your TV or home entertainment system, preferably using the HDMI connection. The result is access right on your TV to an ever-growing lineup of streaming media including over 350 entertainment channels such as Netflix, Hulu Plus, HBO-GO, Amazon Instant Video, and much more …

In fact, if you’re interested in the full current channel lineup provided by the Roku XS 1080p Streaming Player, here’s the lineup (as of Dec 2011).

  • Netflix
  • Hulu Plus
  • Amazon Instant Video
  • Crackle
  • HBO GO
  • Pandora
  • NHL Gamecenter LIVE
  • Angry Birds
  • Disney
  • UFC
  • WSJ Live
  • Facebook
  • MLS
  • PAC-MAN
  • CNBC Real Time
  • EPIX
  • Fox News
  • GBTV

And the list is growing all the time …

Do keep in mind that some of the channel access provide by the Roku XS require a membership account, for example Netflix or HBO-GO.

The Roku XS 1080p Streaming Player is easy to setup. It’s compatible with virtually all TVs. It’s a simple connection to your home network (either wi-fi, wired ethernet or a USB port) and your TV preferably through the HDMI port (for full 1080p HD and Dolby 5.1 surround sound), but the device provides all the standard ways to connect including the composite A/V combo output ( composite connection limits you to standard-definition only). It literally takes just minutes to setup and you’re ready to go!

The device supports a Bluetooth enabled game remote. And a MicroSD memory card slot so you can add extra storage for channels and games if you need it.  The XS remote features motion sensors so you can play games with a flick of a wrist, like the included full Angry Birds game

Ready for a little relaxing game entertainment. The Roku XS 1080p Streaming Player includes a Bluetooth enabled remote with sensors that support motion-based game play like the free full version of Angry Birds that comes included. The remote also sports game-ready buttons for responsive button action that will satisfy even the serious game players.

Some of the most popular games include Angry Birds, PAC-MAN Championship Edition, Galaga, and Storm in a Teacup. And the MicroSD slot enables you to add extra storage to hold more games in the future. New games are being added all the time.

There is a less expensive Roku LT (light) entry level device at $49, but we think for just a little more money, you’ll want to spring for the full Roku XS 1080p Streaming Player with all the features and capabilities. At under $100, this is the best value option to easily access an almost unlimited supply of streaming media over the Internet as well as an ever-growing list of popular games.

The Roku XS 1080p is the perfect gift for the holiday season this year, and something the entire family will appreciate and enjoy. Get your order in today at Amazon to arrive before Christmas (the $98 price qualifies for FREE super-saving shipping if you order now) .

Limbo Set

Quite often when I am out with friends drinking the topic of limbo crops up. Typically this involves betting who can or cannot limbo under a fence of a certain height. I had never contemplated until recently about whether you could buy a Limbo Set or not. If you have wondered the same thing then you are in luck as Firebox has made a limbo set available to buy.

Ideal for parties and entertaining guests this limbo set along with some Caribbean music will have everyone laughing hysterically as people really see how “low can they go”. If you would rather go over it then there is no reason why you cannot use it as a high jump and do a Fosbury flop over the top – just make sure you have a nice soft landing on the other side of it.

Included in the set is two stands with height adjustments plus two cross feet for stability and a crossbeam to limbo under. The limbo set is easily setup and can be transported to different locations with the use of the nylon carry and storage bag.

Available: Firebox

Price: $47

Luxury Foosball Table

Do you remember Friends sitcom where Joey and Chandler had a foosball table in their apartment and the whole gang was always gathered there to have a friendly game? Well, the sitcom certainly brought foosball back to the public’s consciousness. However, if you are thinking of investing in a foosball table, why not go one step further with the 11 The Beautiful Game Luxury Foosball Table? It is definitely not your run of the mill foosball table, that’s for sure.

I’m not easily impressed but I have to admit that even my jaw dropped slightly when I first saw 11 The Beautiful Game. It has a stylish curve design which just shouts out “art” and “fashion” while the 22 players are crafted out and finished off in chrome. The best part is yet to come, though.

This luxury foosball table is illuminated with enough lighting to make it seem as if you really are playing the real beautiful game. Add to that the pre-programmed software will display the different scores as and when the game is being played makes this an excellent creation.

Of course, only the worlds richest will be able to afford 11 Luxury Foosball Table. It costs 48,500 Euros a piece. However, if you can cough up that much money for a foosball table, you would still have to wait for 12 weeks before it is delivered to you. In the meantime, you will just have to surf the Internet and look at pictures of 11 The Beautiful Game to satiate your desire for it!

4D Technology coming to Movie Theatres Soon

4D Capability coming to Movie Theatres Soon

Imagine yourself being able to shake, rattle and roll in your seat as you watch the Science Fiction thriller “Super 8” produced by Steven Spielberg. However, you can only do all that when you’re watching the movie in one of the 50 theatres in America that have been outfitted with the D-Box Motion Code seats.

The technology is responsible for the motion effects that will allow you to feel the movements as your chair moves up, down and sideways, depending on the movie scene that you are watching.  “The content of this new picture is an ideal match for our incredibly realistic motion effects,” a statement by D-Box Technologies CEO Claude McMaster read.

If you’ve been to the Universal Studios theme park then you might have already experienced the body and mind-boggling fourth dimension added to your viewing pleasure which includes water splashes and air blows. The theatres are fast catching up with the technology and before you know it, theatres the world over would be equipped with seats containing the D-Box technology that will make you shake and rumble just like the characters on the screen.

You will realize the dedication that comes with every movie associated with the D-Box technology when you learn that the engineers have to go through all the scenes and frames in the movie to synchronize the D-Box experience all the way.

But here’s more good news. Even your home theatre can be equipped with the 4D or D-Box technology through the hardware and software solution called “Motion Code” which will be installed under the seats.

But while your home cinema may have cost you only $20,000, the additional 4D technology may be more expensive. But for those who can afford life’s perks and money is not an issue great. For the rest of us, I guess we will have to experience it at 4D at the theatre.
