timelapse garden video

Hammacher Schlemmer has loads of gadgets coming out lately that catch my eye; take today’s Timelapse Garden Video Camera for example. Have you ever watched a gardening program on TV where a barren garden with no plants or grass has been filmed after seeds have been sown then replayed in fast forward, you can see the plants growing in real-time.  The Timelapse Garden Video Camera is able to focus as close up as 20″ away or give a wider 54″ view.

How does the Timelapse video work?

The Garden Video Camera works by taking a picture at predetermined time periods ranging from one every 5 seconds to every 24 hours. The pictures are then converted into a single 1280 x 1024 AVI movie for playback and viewing on a computer. The AVI garden video is removed from the Timelapse device via a 2GB USB flash drive  (capacity 18,000 pictures).

The Timelapse Garden Video Camera is powered by four AA batteries which are not included and provide enough power for four months of continuous usage.

pirit heated hose

We often take where we live for granted, i.e. if I need to wash the car or water the garden I just pull my hose pipe out and press the trigger and hey presto the water comes out. But, what happens if you live somewhere cold where there is a chance that the hose pipe and any water inside it is frozen? Well the PIRIT Heated Hose is what you need.  Looking at the picture above you could be forgiven for thinking it’s just the same as any other hose pipe you may purchase from local diy shops, however there is a difference. The PIRIT Heated Hose pipe contains a wire heating element along its length which is connected to a plug. When the plug is inserted into a socket, power supplies the built in thermostat with the energy required to heat the copper wire which will defrost any ice forming within the hose pipe.  The thermostat automatically activated if the ambient temperature outside is below 95° F, and automatically shuts it off when the ambient temperature outside rises above 105° F.

Typical Uses of the PIRIT Heated Hose

- Watering horses and livestock
- Topping off an outdoor hot-tub
- Spraying down the car or RV
- For use on a job site, such as masonry work
- Making a backyard hockey rink
- Gardening
- Frost protection
- Small space heater
- Melting ice on walkways

The PIRIT Heated Hose will likely set you back $189 for a 50 foot length and come with a Manufacturer one year warranty.

Say Goodbye to Flies

fly goodbye

The summer is coming and with the increase in temperature comes the increase in flies buzzing round the house. I find them really annoying, I mean not only do they come in the house and die leaving a mess on window ledges etc, but the walk in the middle of the TV when I’m trying to watch it and buzz round the kitchen when I’m trying to cook something. Ideally, I want to get rid of flies from the house without killing them, i.e. splattering them with a newspaper as firstly it kills the fly, and secondly leaves a splatter mark on the wall.

The Fly-Goodbye is a gadget which allows you to either catch or kill the fly, or to catch and release it.  The Fly-Goodbye system allows you to approach a fly at a distance of 3cm and suck it up by firing a tube which created a vacuum.  The lid can then be placed on and the fly released outside.

The benefits of this system is that its quite fun, and you find yourself actually hunting down flies (possibly leaving more windows open), but unlike hunting you don’t have to kill the fly.  The system requires no batteries as it is made with a dual piston design and spring which creates the suction in the system

Forget the concept of windows with OLED Wallpaper

oled wallpaper

Toshiba as always has done it again. If there is any company that knows how to make reel into real, it definitely is Toshiba. And this time again they have given a concept that is indeed out of the world. If you wondering whose brain works so fast and thinks such extraordinary concepts then again all the applause for selecting commendable executives goes to Toshiba. This time the company is busy creating something called an OLED, i.e., the Organic Light-Emitting Diode. Its an ultra thin display which the company claims can be used as a wallpaper for you home and thus transforming a mere wall into television. Now that sounds interesting. Isn’t it?

Lets see how it actually works. Nano particles get self assembled in the wallpaper that fabricates discordants that are immensely fine and are further used to redirect light which this wallpaper uses. But it seems that the commercial production of these wallpapers wont take place in the near future because of the extraordinary technology. Well definitely that can be disappointing as the entire project seems so intelligent that its difficult to resist the temptation of having a OLED wallpaper in your house. Just imagine when this OLED wallpaper will actually hit the market, how would be the scene like??? There would be no need to select a color for your wall. You could have an entire garden scene in your drawing room wall giving the feel of a big garden outside. No needs to get cartoon painted in your kids’ rooms walls when the entire Disney world can keep moving over the wall. And your wife always wanted a bright sunny morning to inspire her to cook?

Well, with OLED wallpapers, she could have whatever she wanted in her kitchen wall. Feels like living a dream??? Well one day with more advancement in technology, you will indeed live this dream. All it would take is some more patience.
