Kuat Bicycle Bottle Lock

If you think you can leave your bicycle leaning against a lamp post and run into the mini mart to grab a Gatorade, you are probably underestimating the frequency of bicycle theft that still occurs every day. In fact, in many locales, bicycle theft is actually on the rise. This may be due to the down economy we’re all struggling through these days. And bicycles are popular marks with the criminals because they can still sell the bicycle even after it has been broken down into parts.

If you own an expensive more state of the art mountain bicycle, it’s especially advisable that you take a bicycle lock with you and secure your bicycle whenever and wherever you stop.

The bicycle locks that we’re most familiar with typically consist of a simple cable and carrying it around is kind of a hassle. If not in use, the bicycle lock will be coiled around the frame of the bicycle which can be a nuisance for the cyclist. We’ve found a great solution called the Bicycle Bottle Lock from Kuat.

The Bicycle Bottle Lock looks like a water bottle but inside is a coiled up cable that is 1.5 meters long and the bottle itself is constructed with a sturdy plastic coated steel material. When you need to use it, simple pull out the cable and secure it with the Bottle Lock’s built in lock. With the Bicycle Bottle Lock, you won’t have to worry about the bicycle cable tangling inconveniently around your bike frame, always getting in your way.

The Bicycle Bottle Lock comes in black, white and pink which will look stylish on your bicycle. On top of that, the designers of the Bottle Lock have included a convenient storage compartment at the base of the bottle. This small compartment will allow you to keep the keys to the Bottle Lock and other small items.

Clip-on Bike LED Lights

Since the invention of the modern bicycle, numerous safety precautions for cyclists had been patented, invented and marketed to the people. There are safety helmets designed to reduced crash impacts, reflective vests and/or other similar clothing to increase night visibility, not to mention the vast array of dubious protective gear which is supposed to protect you from harm.

However, the majority of them are either overpriced, under quality or just plain useless in personal protection. With the Clip-on Bike LED Lights, there is now a simple and cost-effective way to reduce the odds of an untoward accident happening to you.

Priced at just $13 for a set of two Clip-on Bike LED Lights in red and white respectively, the device can be clipped onto almost any part of your trusty old bike. Cables, bars and even maybe the spokes of your back tire; you name it, they got it covered. With two of them, you can have one attached on the front and back of your bike; ensuring that you are visible to vehicles from both directions.

Unlike reflectors too, they will work just fine even though some cars may not have their headlights on. No longer will you have to depend also on the presence of lampposts. At the extremely affordable price they are retailing at, you can even get another set for the sides of your bike; ensuring that you are covered from all directions.

NuVinci Harmony

Fallbrook Technologies have introduced some pretty successful e-bike shifting systems over the past few years. The newest system from Fallbrook Technology is pretty impressive, and much better compared to its predecessors. It is called the NuVinci Harmony, which is an automatic shifting system designed for electric bike technology.

The NuVinci Harmony operates with the NuVinci’s N360 Continously Variable Planetary (CVP) drivetrain. The Harmony is built as a separate unit and mounts inside the rear dropout, pulling power from any electric bike battery from12-48 volts DC. For those e-bikers who tend to leave their bikes in one constant gear, which can overwork the electric motor, this automatic shifting system is just the solution.

NuVinci Harmony

There are two NuVinci Harmony models – advanced rider and basic rider. With the advanced rider controller, you are able to find exact cadences and set the cadence of your liking. Then, the system will make adjustments according to the wind changes or terrain so that the cadence can be maintained. Riders also have the option to switch to manual mode to adjust the ratio manually. On the other hand, controller for the basic rider is of a much simpler set-up, and there are 3 programmable settings – slow, medium and fast, that can be pre-set.

The hub interface of the Harmony system weighs around 250 grams, with a quick-release attachment to enable easy wheel removal. You will be seeing the NuVinci Harmony CVP system on electric bikes early next year, with a price range of EUR 2,000 and above.
