The Hydrocycle

The Hydrocycle is a watercraft that combines a boat with a bicycle. The power is provided by the rider and is as easy as riding a bike. However, the pedaling does not rotate a wheel, instead in rotates a 12” propeller that powers the Hydrocycle forward.
This Hydrocycle allows two riders to pedal at the same time and is suitable for rivers, lakes, and oceans, anywhere with no more than 3’ of swells. Constant cycling can produce a speed up to 6mph which is as fast as canoeing or kayaking, however because you are using your legs instead of your arms you do no tire as easily.
Buoyancy is provided by three polyethylene pontoons that ensure stability and speed is maintained during a ride. Just like a bicycle, handlebars are provided that steer the hydrocycle in whichever direction you want due to being linked to a rudder.
Comfortability is guaranteed with an adjustable seat and the hydrocycle also provides a storage container at the front of the hydrocycle to store a refreshing drink should you need it. One final bonus, the whole unit can be assembled and disassembled easily without the need for tools. This unit does not come with the life jackets shown in the picture, so make sure you wear one when you use it.
The Hydrocycle is made of high quality materials designed to be long lasting, easily cleaned, and transported. Perhaps a bit on the expensive side at $3,600 for the tandem version, there is also a single rider version for $1900.

Rope Climbing for People with Fear of Heights – MtEverClimb

There are a few different exercises with a rope you can do for example you can skip with it like
Sylvester Stallone on Rocky or climb it. The last time I climbed a rope was probably in school, I remember it being a lot of hard work and I struggling to make the top (it was not very long or high). However, I did feel a sense of achievement after making it. For some people the thought of this would be impossible because they suffer from Acrophobia – a fear of heights.
Today’s sports gadget called the MtEverClimb is the ultimate rope climbing workout. It features a rope attached to a pulley wheel that loops around to provide a never ending rope to climb. The advantage with this is that no matter how much you climb you are never more than a few feet from the ground.
Climbing a rope is a compound exercise that provides a good workout for a large number of muscles in the body. It is a great addition to your cardio workout as it will definitively get your heart pounding. The MtEverClimb has some impressive current users specifically the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers use and endorse it.
Now the downside, unless you run a gym or have a bit of money to burn and the room to position this large piece of gym equipment then it is going to set you back just under $8k.

Stand Out More with the Angel Bicycle Helmet

Even with the installation of the flashing red LEDs on the front and back of the bicycle, accidents involving cyclists still occur. This is because the red LEDs are usually not bright enough and only illuminate when you are cycling. Besides that, these lights and reflectors are typically located below the eye level for other motorists causing the cyclists to be less visible at night.
For those who own a bicycle and often ride it to the office, your friends house, etc, a bicycle helmet is necessary for protection on the road. However, regular helmets are not as safe as they can be when riding at night.
Now with the Angel Bicycle Helmet, cyclists can rest assure that the risk of getting involved in a road accident has been reduced. The Angel Bicycle Helmet has 2x5W LEDs that light up a strip of fibre optics which encompass the entire circumference of the helmet. This feature provides cyclists with 360 degrees of high visibility. From a distance, the cyclist wearing the bike helmet will look like he has a halo around his head, hence the name “Angel bicycle helmet“.
An additional benefit of the Angel Bicycle Helmet is that it’s waterproof. You don’t need to worry about the LEDs short circuiting when you’re cycling under a light drizzle of rain. The bike helmet also includes a built-in USB charging port which is protected under a rubber gasket for easy recharging when needed. Another special feature of the Angel Bike Helmet is that it can be switched to a flashing mode. This will definitely catch the attention of other drivers on the road. This is a definite life saving cycling gadget and could make the difference between a driver seeing you and a tragic accident.

The Solowheel Gyroscopic Electric Unicycle

We can now observe gyroscopic sensor technology being used in all sorts of gadgets and gizmos; today it has been incorporated into a cycling gadget called the Gyroscopic Electric Unicycle to provide the rider with perfect balance. Having never tried a unicycle before, I would imagine learning to balance must be the most difficult part. The balance is what gives you stability and the ability to change direction. Well to help you out this unicycle is electric therefore no pedalling is necessary, just requires your balance and the gyroscopic action helps you with that.
To ride the Solowheel Gyroscopic Electric Unicycle, the rider simply stands on the two feet pads positioned on either side of the wheel. Then the gyroscopic sensors take over determining center-of-mass and doing calculations that allow the rider’s small feet movements and weight distribution to move the electric unicycle. If the rider leans forward the result is a steady smooth acceleration whilst leaning back brings the unicycle to a controlled stop.
Check Out the Solowheel Gyroscopic Electric Unicycle in Action
Supplying power to the Solowheel Gyroscopic Electric Unicycle is a 1,000-watt electric motor powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery which requires a 2-hour charge to provide 2-hours of cycling. This is based on a typical usage where the rider weighs 160lb or less and is travelling at 10mph. Seems like there is no end to the bike gadgets becoming available, it was just the other week when we mentioned the electric bicycle for two and the Rowbike also from Hammacher.
