Motion-Powered TV Remote Control
January 26, 2009 by admin
Our final Eco-friendly gadget of the day is this motion powered TV remote control by a group of designers (Lee Sung Hoon, Kang Sooyeon, Cho Eun Bee, Lee Junehwa and Kim Jean). The battery free TV remote or Shake Control as its being called is a device which takes advantage of motion technology to supply electricity required for changing channels. Specifically, the energy is generated when a mobile magnet within the TV remote passes a coil generating the energy required to power the remote.

The concept behind the Shake Control is to reduce the need for batteries not just for TV remotes, but for any small device used frequently that only requires a small amount of energy which can be provided by motion.
