Recycle Your Hot Water With EcoDrain
April 2, 2009 by Michael

No doubt, one of the biggest expenses on your energy bill is the energy used to heat water up. Typically, showers are the most expensive as most of the hot water hit your body for a few seconds before being drained off down the plug hole. The short time that the water has to cool after being used in a shower makes it an ideal for heat recovery.
The EcoDrain is a device which is able to re-circulate warm exiting down the plug hole back up to the shower which in turn re-heats the incoming clean water. The result is that less energy is needed to be supplied by the boiler to heat the water to sufficient temperature levels. Essentially the system is a very clever heat exchange system. Dont get confused however, the EcoDrain does not recycle water. The EcoDrain is a passive heat exchanger making it possible to transfer heat from hot waste water to cold fresh water.
