Amazon Kindle 2.0 has yet another competitor, this time from Samsung who are launching an e-book reader this summer called the Samsung Papyrus. Now, the Amazon Kindle 2.0 is a great device and is doing very well for Amazon, but I am a self confessed Samsung fan, everything electrical I own I try and get from Samsung, i.e. phone, DVD player, laptop, etc.

The Samsung Papyrus features a touchscreen display unit with a host of applications such as memo pad, scheduler, calendar, a world clock, contact list, and a calculator. Selection and navigation of applications is done via a stylus pen and the overall size of the e-book reader is approximately A5 in size. The Papyrus comes with 512mb of on-board memory which is quite a bit considering my first pc only had 256mb of memory.

The Samsung Papyrus will be available in white, black, and sea green (personally I would go for the white). No exact idea on price but early indications are that it will hit the UK/US market after Korea with a price tag of around $300 which would make it cheaper than the Amazon Kindle.<-->

Uggh- no wifi?! No SD Slot??? No thank you! Get an old palm pilot then. It’d be better and cheaper! Truly pointless…
