Turn Lights Off and On With a High Five

Remember when you were young you used to give high-fives to everybody and it would make you feel so good? Well, a designer has decided to harness the positive effect that a high-five gives by inventing a light switch that turns off and on with a high-five called Bye-5. United States-based designer Da Deng has designed a light switch shaped in a 3-dimensional hand with its palm facing outwards.
The Bye-5 even has a skin-like texture for added realism. One merely has to give it a slap to the palm to turn on or off the lights. You don’t have to worry about groping in virtual darkness after you’ve turned off the lights as a beautiful LED dim light will glow softly from inside the hand.
Yes, it’s a novel idea with sincere intentions. The aim is to cultivate enthusiasm in people to switch off the lights when they leave the room. Most people tend to leave the lights on after they’ve left a room because of forgetfulness. Well, having a hand for a light switch will definitely make it hard for one to forget about turning off the lights, in addition to the fact that it helps save the environment by conserving energy. Besides, after a long tired day in the office, giving a high-five (albeit to a fake hand) will definitely lift your spirits up.
Unfortunately, the Bye-5 is still just a concept. Hopefully, it will catch on as an invention which is friendly to the environment and lets people have a little fun at the same time as well.
