O Car iPhone Stereo Controller

Currently, the automobile industry is brimming with the latest vehicles, boasting high-end stereo systems that can be sync to your phone. So much has changed so quickly with stereo and entertainment features in today’s vehicles. It was only a few years ago that I test-drove a car that still had a cassette player, and this was a $100,000.00 luxury model! If you had not had the chance to drive a new vehicle with the latest in car gadgets, you might want to give the latest O Car iPhone Stereo Controller a shot.

The heart of any sound system is the head unit, which enables the user to listen to the radio or soundtracks on the iPhone, by integrating the phone into the entire sound system. The iPhone dock was specifically designed to serve this purpose, which renders the head unit obsolete. Also, it’s flexible enough to rotate your phone. In addition, apps incorporated into the system include audio settings adjustments and radio.

Bluetooth connectivity will permit any device that is Bluetooth-enabled to connect to the car. In the case of a cell phone, the driver is able to receive calls without having to lift and hold the phone. This is a wonderful advancement in communications, especially in regard to safety.

However, with a price tag of $300, this system might burn a hole in your pocket, depending on your budget. Ultimately, we have to ask ourselves, which items are worth the money and which are ones that you can live without?

Smart Keyboard: Give Your iPhone a Business Oriented Feature

Smart Keyboard

Are you the kind of people who could never appreciate the fact that Blackberries often had screens smaller than a memo pad? Perhaps you would like to jump on the iPhone bandwagon for the plethora of multimedia features they offer yet will really miss the ergonomic keyboard of a Blackberry during those crucial moments when you have to tap out long emails on the go? Well, with the Smart Keyboard concept, there is hardly any reason why you cannot have the best of both worlds.

Conceptualized in the People Republic of China, where great innovative ideas are born every day, the Smart Keyboard is the brainchild of Jing Yang, from the eico Motion Lab. The idea possibly draws inspiration from the range of Smart Covers available for use with the iPad 2 and gives its users the freedom of using it as a stand, though it may only be in portrait mode. For that important business email when you just have no access to a laptop, the paper thin keyboard can easily adhere onto your screen and offers a tempting alternative to conventional touch screen keyboards.

Even with haptic feedback, such an input method often does not work well for everyone, especially when urgency is needed. After you are done and need to free up the screen for a game of Angry Bird, just remove the keyboard which is thin enough to place into your wallet and you will be good to go!

REVIEW – iPhone App Now Working With Dragon NaturallySpeaking

You may have heard of the Dragon NaturallySpeaking, the speech identification software for the PC (Personal Computer) and Mac which lets one to do the talking and it also types everything the user says. Now, the newer version 11.5 of the software had been released, and it lets the users to use an iPhone as their microphone. I have installed the PC version of that software and also downloaded the Nuance remote mic iPhone application to see how well does it works for me.

This newer version of the Nuance Dragon NaturallySpeaking for PC and the Mac version which is called the Dragon Dictate have the same features with similar speech recognition engine. Released last September its claim to fame was a substantial increase in its speech to text accuracy. The speech identification engine in this new version is the same as in version 11. It requires some training and can’t only transliterate everything the user says, but it lets them to navigate their computer and bark out the commands such as “search Google for rubber baby buggy bumpers,” and it straightaway opens up the default web browser and then enters the given terms in Google searching straight away.

Previously, the user required a microphone but now a wired USB headset with mic can be used allowing the software to achieve greater accuracy. The main improvement with this latest version (available for the PC, soon for the Mac) is the way it lets users to use their iPhone’s stock earbuds/mic as their microphone, resulting in the sound quality which is at least as good as that of a USB mic. This is a beneficial thing, because the Bluetooth mics just doesn’t work well enough for the speech recognition. But the iPhone application won’t use Bluetooth; it transmits to your PC over a Wi-Fi network, resulting in better sound quality which ultimately means better accuracy.

These days, it is easy to stay on top of the news locally and internationally especially when you have an iPhone and a CNN iPhone app to make it happen.

The CNN app has been created for the iPod Touch and iPhone exclusively, so news addicts and anyone that watches CNN a lot can always get a live stream of breaking news.  In other words, know the latest headlines internationally and locally, whether it is a traffic update, weather or other news that you just could not miss.

The CNN app can do more than just bring you the news but also allow you to participate in the news with the iReport feature. The iReport allows you to use the phone’s video and advanced photo capabilities to report directly using this smart and functional feature of the app. In fact, there is more to the app than just catching the latest headlines and this is what the app promised.

So, let us summarize as to what the CNN app can do once downloaded. The CNN iPhone app allows users to get the latest breaking news on the U.S, top stories of the day, politics, entertainment news, health and many more. You can also get the highlights or the full stories and best of all share the stories on social sites like Facebook, Twitter or email them via SMS to your friends or relatives.

The CNN app is great to have on your iPhone but do not expect too much from when compared to other news applications such as the BBC News app. The CNN app still needs further improvement especially when it comes to the design. Nevertheless, this is a great app to add to your collection of iTunes apps.

CNN app is downloadable for free via iTunes Store and works on all iPod, iPhone and optimized as well for the iOS 4.

Pic3D – Bringing 3D into your iPhone

Here is a testament that eating a lot of fish is good for your brain. A Japanese company named Global Wave has developed a sheet of film that would transform your 2D monitors and iPhone’s into 3D! God bless Japan.

The wonder film adopts lenticular lens system, which was made popular by Toshiba with their Glasses-Free 3D TV and Fujifilm with their 3D Printer. In the system, the 3D effect is achieved by using arrays of magnifying lenses to display image at different angles, thus creating an illusion of depth. The plus points of adopting the lenticular system is the image produced could retain up to 90% of the LCD brightness and offers up to 120 degree viewing angles.

The best part is, you don’t need to put on that mismatched glasses for the characters to jump out of the screen. If you are an honest person, you would agree that the pair of glasses really is a fashion suicide, unless you’re a Gaga of course.

So what you need to do is simply apply the iPhone gadget film on to your LCD screen and let the magic work. It is a first-of-its-kind; says Global Wave.  The product is scheduled to take off in August. Its price would range from $25 to $186, depending on the size.

For the time being, Pic3D is available for 12.1 (1,280×800 resolution), 15.6 (1,366×768), 21.5 (1,920×1,080), and 23 (1,920×1,080) inches sized screens.  The company is now working to make it available for iPhone, iPad 2 and iPod touch 4G too. Three cheers for Global Wave!
