Nokia releases first Windows mobile phone in India
India’s popular handset maker Nokia unveiled its latest touch-and-type business smartphone, Nokia E7 for the Indian market. The Nokia E7 is the first Windows Mobile phone launched by the company. Last month Nokia and Microsoft had announced a deal in which Nokia will make smartphones only on the Windows platform and it will abandon other platforms such as Symbian and Android.
The new Nokia E7 has a slide out four-row QWERTY keyboard for an easy and comfortable typing. The Vice President and Managing Director of Nokia India, Mr. D Shivkumar told, “Consumers today seek a device that allows them to do a lot more, both in their personal and professional lives. Nokia E7 is an all-in-one business smartphone that offers a superior mobile office experience coupled with compelling entertainment options.” He also said, “We are confident that with Nokia E7, we will redefine the consumers’ expectations from the smartphones segment.”
The new Nokia E7 mobile phone comes with a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen display and also supports embedded ClearBlack technology which helps in refining outdoor visibility. The handset is also equipped with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync support which allows users to edit documents as they traverse from one place to another. The device integrates some pre-loaded apps such as IBM Lotus Notes Traveler, World traveler App, Quick office Dynamic Premium, Mail for Exchange, F-Secure anti-theft software and Adobe PDF Reader etc.
Nokia E7 also offers a full suite of Ovi content and multimedia with the ability to view three new business channels called CNBC TV18, CNBC Awaaz and Bloomberg in a Web TV format for business news updates. The new Nokia E7 will be available in the Indian market to purchase with the price tag of Rs. 29,999. Nokia also collaborated with Vodafone which provides 2 GB data per month free for 6 months. The offer is applicable for both post and pre paid consumers.
Samsung officially launches the Samsung Corby II

Samsung announced to officially launch its new Samsung Corby II handset. The Samsung Corby II is the successor of Samsung’s original Corby handset but the new Corby II does not come with Android. The device looks like the Samsung Galaxy Mini and comes with various bright colors such as white, yellow, and black & pink. It has an improved Samsung’s TouchWiz UI user interface and Social Hub for easy access to instant messaging, emails and social networking.
The original Corby was introduced in 2009 but this new Samsung Corby II comes with some improvements. The device includes a larger 3.14-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen display which supports resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The handset also has a 2 megapixel camera to capture pictures with autofocus and also supports for panoramic night view. The mobile phone integrates some basic features such as voice recorder and FM Radio.
The Samsung Corby II handset supports 16 GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot. The mobile device includes some exciting features such as Dolphin 2.0 browser, Exchange ActiveSync, mobile phone tracking and t9 QuickType input. The connectivity features of handset are USB 2.0 port, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and 3.5 mm headphone jack. It runs on a 1,000 mAh battery which provides talk time of up to 9.5 hours and standby time of up to 620 hours. The handset supports various file formats like MP3, AAC, AAC+, eACC+, WAV, WMA, MPEG-4 and HJ.264.
The Samsung Corby II handset will be available in Russia by the end of April to purchase at the price of 6,500 rubbles (approx $230). Later it will be available in China, India, Europe, Latin America, Asia, Middle East, Africa and various different countries. The weight and dimensions of Samsung Corby II are 102 grams and 109.9 x 60.6 x 11.7 mm respectively.
